Omega began in 1848, when Louis Brandt started assembling pocket watches in La Chaux-de-Fonds. By the end of the century his sons had built one of the largest watch factories in Switzerland, and the Omega calibre gave the company its name.
Its watches have timed the Olympic Games since 1932, gone to sea with divers and, in 1969, been worn on the Moon. For collectors that history is easy to follow: references are well documented, and Omega can confirm a watch's production from its archives.
