Girard-Perregaux traces its roots to 1791, when Jean-François Bautte signed his first watches in Geneva. The name came later, from the marriage of watchmaker Constant Girard and Marie Perregaux in 1854, and the house settled in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
Its tourbillon with three gold bridges won a gold medal at the 1889 Paris Exposition and still defines the brand. Collectors also look for its world time watches and the Laureato, one of the first luxury sports watches with an integrated bracelet.
